Doggy Decorum, LLC was founded in 2007
by owner and dog trainer Andrea Singer.  

When I was a little girl, I found myself engaging with every single dog I came into contact with. Evidently, my love for dogs was en grained deep in my soul. Fast forward to my first career; I loved it, but felt a pull towards a local animal shelter. My free time volunteering there revealed a true calling in the pet industry. I began my new career journey as a dog walker and pet sitter in NYC.

The Beginning of Doggy Decorum, LLC

All of my dog clients could benefit from some basic obedience training. Because of this, I decided to explore the path to be a professional dog trainer since it was a natural passion of mine. I began to offer additional training services to my already well-established pet sitting and walking business. It was there that the core of Doggy Decorum, LLC. was born.

While I built my business I also continued to expand my knowledge through books by renowned dog trainers like Jean Donaldson, Patricia McConnell, Sophia Yin, and Karen Pryor. In addition, hands-on shadowing experience was available for me with certified dog trainers. It became an ongoing learning resource for me. I was adopting the best training and obedience techniques for dogs.

Looking back, I didn’t realize how much I loved talking to people about their dogs. Educating dog owners to communicate effectively with their companion is the most rewarding career. Easily, it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. I love teaching dog parents about their dog’s natural instincts and behaviors, creating strong bonds between humans and canines. Ultimately, it gives them the knowledge to create a happy, healthy, and rewarding relationship suited for their lifestyles.​

Canine Nutrition Expertise

Over the last 15 years, my professional dog training methods have continued to evolve within an ever-changing industry. Scientific studies on canine behavior and nutrition are always uncovering better ways to care for our pets.  Today, I am always improving and innovating my training methods. I comply with the oath I took to DO NO HARM and speak for the voiceless. Because of this, all of my methods include positive reinforcement training and are force-free.

Location and Associations

Currently, I am a member of Pet Professional Guild and Fear Free Pets, and continue my learning from trainers across the globe.

​I live in Virginia Beach with my furry best friends – Freddy & Flash.  We lost Lily in late 2023, but she remains in our hearts and Freddy has taken over her exuberance for dinner everyday at 5pm.

I owe a huge thank you to Little Dude, my bitey chihuahua. If it wasn’t for him as my inspiration, Doggy Decorum, LLC may not have been what it is today.
